Ascend through dramatic landscapes, climbing to 5,000 metres as the vibrant colours of Cerro Colorado reveal themselves beneath the brilliant Andean sky.

Walk along trails surrounded by the towering peaks of the Ausangate massif, spotting chinchillas and wild vicuñas as they dart across the rugged terrain. Take in the incredible bands of ochre, turquoise, and deep red that have been shaped by centuries of geological forces.

Pause at the summit for a guided visit, where the thin air and profound silence create a moment of pure wonder. The views stretch endlessly across this otherworldly landscape that feels almost too extraordinary to be real.

Vinicunca or the Rainbow Mountain is one of the most popular destinations in Cusco. We will leave the hotel early to head to Cusipata and from there we will travel to Phulawasipata, starting point of the uphill trail. Enjoy nature along the path: herds of llamas and alpacas, as well as the majestic Apu Ausangate, the highest snow-capped mountain in Cusco. After approximately an hour and a half of walking, we will arrive at Vinicunca, at 5,020 metres. Our reward is a stunning view of the colourful hillside. The minerals that make up the mountain's soil give its slopes and summit curious shades of red, purple, green, yellow, and pink, among other colours. From there we will head back to Phulawasipata. We head towards Cusipata, where we will enjoy a refreshing traditional lunch before headiing back to Cusco.

The itinerary includes some drives, especially through the Sacred Valley and during transfers, but none are overly long or continuous. The drive from Cusco to Sacred Valley and back is broken up with stops at various sites along the way.

Vegetarian options will be available, but might be somewhat limited. The same is true for vegan options.

We try and cater to other diet restrictions as much as possible. But, we do focus on regional local cuisine. So there will be limitations. Please write to [email protected] with your booking number in the subject line to inform us well in advance of any such restrictions.

Peru has diverse climates depending on the region:

Lima: Coastal, mild temperatures with some humidity.

Cusco & Sacred Valley: Higher altitude, cooler temperatures, and potential for rain (especially during the wet season from November to March).

Machu Picchu: Mild to warm during the day, cooler at night.

We require a 35% advance payment at the time of booking.

The remaining balance needs to be paid in full at least 50 days before the date of travel

We have the following cancellation terms for this tour:

Cancellation up to 91 days from the date of travel: 10% cancellation charges (as per the total trip cost) will be levied, the rest will be refunded to you

From 90 - 46 days from the date of travel: 30% cancellation charges will be levied

45 days or less from the date of travel: 100% cancellation charges will be levied
