Arrive at Gangtok/Pakyong Airport (Airport code: PYG). Pakyong Airport is a seasonal domestic airport serving Gangtok. Once you retrieve your luggage, proceed to the arrival gate, please look for the JrnyOn representative holding a placard with your name. Proceed to your hotel in a pre-arranged transfer vehicle.

Enchey Monastery

The Enchey Monastery is a Buddhist monastery located near Gangtok, the capital of the Indian state of Sikkim. Situated atop a hill, it offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The monastery is dedicated to Guru Rinpoche, also known as Padmasambhava, who is considered a revered figure in Tibetan Buddhism.

Day 3

Arrive in Kalimpong

Today you will visit Rumtek Monastery, 24 kilometres from Gangtok. The monastery is affiliated with one of the important Tibetan Buddhist sects, the Kargyapa sect. When the leader of this sect escaped from Tibet in 1959, he was invited to settle in Sikkim. With an influx of funds, the monastery was restored to its traditional Tibetan architectural lines in the 1960's, the original monastery having being destroyed by an earthquake. From Rumtek you will drive to Kalimpong and that afternoon have time to visit the local bazaar and appreciate the time when the town was an important trading post between India and Tibet.

Sikkim experiences pleasant springs (March-May) with blooming flowers and temperatures of 10°C-25°C. Summers (June-August) are cooler (15°C-22°C) but see heavy monsoons and lush greenery. Autumn (September-November) offers clear skies and cool temperatures (10°C-20°C), ideal for sightseeing. Winters (December-February) bring snow in higher altitudes, with temperatures dropping to 0°C or below.
