A day trip to Stepantsminda and Mtskheta

We start at 8:30am, on a day trip to the Caucasus Mountains. Travel to Gudauri ski resort, cross the Jvari Pass (2395m), and descend to Kazbegi (Stepantsminda, 1700m), a picturesque settlement beneath Mount Kazbek (5047m). Enjoy a 1-hour 15-minute uphill trek, followed by lunch and exploration of the town.

On the return to Tbilisi, visit Mtskheta, Georgia's ancient capital (20km from Tbilisi), dating back to the 2nd millennium BC. Mtskheta was the Kingdom of Iberia’s capital (500 BC–500 AD) and where Christianity was adopted in the 4th century. Explore UNESCO-listed sites: Svetitskhoveli Cathedral and, if time permits, Jvari Monastery.

Drive Tbilisi – Sighnaghi – Telavi

Begin a two-day trip to Kakheti, Georgia’s renowned wine region, filled with vineyards and historic churches. Visit St. Nino Monastery in Bodbe, followed by Sighnaghi, a charming hill-town with stunning views of the Alazani Valley and Eastern Caucasus Mountains. Explore the town before continuing to a winery for wine tasting (included).

Enjoy a cooking class to make churchkhela, Georgian bread, and khinkali (dumplings), followed by lunch. Arrive in Telavi for a short sightseeing tour and a visit to the market. Overnight stay in a hotel in or around Telavi or Tsinandali.

There are no activities scheduled on Day 1 of the trip. So you can arrive anytime. Hotel check-in time varies and generally will be around 2:00 pm.

You can depart anytime. Generally, there are no inclusions on the tour on the last day. The hotel check-out time is usually 11 am or 12 noon.

The local guides and drivers are an essential part of your tour. It is always a good gesture to reward them with gratuities if you are appreciative of their services. For travel in Georgia from Nov to March, please carry all the winter essentials (Jackets with hoodies, sweaters, turtlenecks, warm gloves & pants, etc. LAYERING is a great way. If you trap air in several layers of clothing, you have a better chance of staying warm than if you wear one or two very heavy items. For the rest of the summer, casual adaptable clothing as per your comfort is good. There are restaurants in Georgia, where you might enjoy dressing up a bit. So adding some nice evening wear to your travel wardrobe will be a nice idea.

The weather in Georgia from June to August ranges from 23 – 32 °C while April, September, and October ranges from 14 - 17 °C. From November to March, the temperature ranges from 3 - 7 °C.
