In these 5 days we will experience the connect to self through the lens of Yoga and Sankhya that share similar principles with Buddhism. Yoga is a way of life that follows the same principles as Buddha preached. But Yoga is not just physical. Through our practices of Asana, Pranayama and Dhyana we will experience both Bahiranga, which is external and Anataranga Sadhana or inner work, together that comprises ‘Yoga’.

At 3 pm, meet your JrnyMaestro & the local guide in the hotel lobby. Embark on an insightful orientation drive of Patna, the historic capital of Bihar. This drive will take you through key landmarks and significant areas, offering you a comprehensive overview of the city's rich history, cultural heritage, and vibrant present.

A notable stop on this journey is the Bihar Museum, a modern marvel that showcases the diverse history, art, and culture of the Bihar region. Marvel at the exhibits that span different periods, providing insight into the region's past and present.

After the orientation drive and museum visit, we will conclude the day with a welcome dinner at a local restaurant, allowing you to savour the flavours of the region. Following this delightful experience, you'll be transferred back to your hotel, ensuring a restful night.

Patna, the capital of Bihar state, India, is one of the oldest continuously inhabited places in the world and the history of Patna spans at least three millennia. Patna has the distinction of being associated with the two most ancient religions of the world, namely, Buddhism and Jainism. The ancient city of Pataliputra (predecessor of modern Patna) was the capital of the Mauryan, Shunga, and Gupta Empires.

We will drive around the city as our local guide give you a brief on the history and sites of this historic city.

Gridhakuta Hill, also known as Vulture Peak, is a sacred site where the Buddha is believed to have delivered his Lotus Sermon. The peak, resembling a vulture's head, features a natural stone formation. Referred to as “Gujjhakut” in Buddhist texts, it remains a favourite meditation spot.

At Vulture Peak, engage in 'Dhyana' (meditation). This sacred place, where Buddha imparted his teachings, offers a profound connection to the 'Anandamaya Kosha' – the blissful spiritual layer.

Whether you walk or take the gondola, each step is a step towards deeper spiritual awareness. We will try to practice “Maunam” – Silence to feel the true Connect.

Note: Guests have two options, take the gondola up to the new Japanese stupa (for anyone who cannot walk much). You can see the holy site from there. Or walk up the 300 or so steps to see the site. Walk the same path as Buddha did centuries before.

Bodhgaya, Immersion in Serenity

"Welcome to Day 3 of your journey, a day dedicated to deep spiritual immersion in Bodhgaya, the land of Buddha's enlightenment. Today's experiences are designed to connect you with the principles of Yoga and Buddhism, offering profound insights into the essence of self-awareness and inner peace. Early morning drive to the revered Mahabodhi Temple, where a revitalizing yoga session amid its serene surroundings awaits you. Absorb the tranquillity of the area as you engage in this soul-nurturing practice. Following the session, explore the sacred grounds of the temple, a site where Lord Buddha is believed to have attained enlightenment.

After the temple exploration, return to the hotel for a hearty breakfast and some well-deserved leisure time. Lunch is not included, providing you with the flexibility to choose your dining experience.

In the afternoon, enjoy a scenic drive to the Gupta caves, where an insightful talk awaits, unravelling the historical and spiritual significance of these ancient caves. Return to Bodhgaya, and as the evening descends, you have the option for a second visit to the Mahabodhi Temple. Yes, private arrival and departure airport transfers are included in all JrnyOn tours between the airport and the tour hotel. These transfers will be shared with other members of your tour.

Your first activity is scheduled for 3pm on Day 1. So please be in the lobby of the hotel 15 mts before.

You can depart anytime. Generally there are no inclusions on tour on the last day. The hotel check out time is usually 11am or 12noon.

Many of our travellers do travel alone as our JRNYs provide an opportunity to meet and share experiences with like-minded people. We normally pair up solo travellers, but if you would like to have your single room, we offer that. There will be a supplement cost for the single room.

You will have to be 12 yrs or above to join this JRNY. Anyone 12 - 17 should be accompanied by an adult above 18 years old.

Absolutely, please rest assured. From flavourful vegetarian dishes deeply rooted in local culinary traditions to specially curated menus, we ensure a delightful array of vegetarian choices on all our tours.

We try and cater to other diet restrictions as much as possible. But, we do focus on regional local cuisine. So there will be limitations. Please write to [email protected] with you booking number in the subject line to inform us well in advance of any such restrictions.

Overall for the tour on a scale from 1 - 5, a fitness level of 2 would be ideal for this trip.

Please refer to the daily activities in the itinerary, where the driving distance and duration for each day is given. The longest drive in this tour appx 4 hrs (depending on traffic) between Patna and Bodhgaya, which includes many stops for sightseeing and lunch.

In general, lightweight and breathable clothing is advisable as the weather tends to warm up by the end of March. Please do make sure you pack your yoga clothes as well.
