Arrive at the Kilimanjaro International Airport in Tanzania, often called the “Gateway to Africa’s wildlife heritage.” You will meet your safari guides and drive to your hotel in Lake Manyara,a picturesque gem nestled at the base of the East African Rift Valley in Tanzania, forming part of the country's renowned northern safari circuit. The lake itself is part of the larger Lake Manyara National Park, a compact yet diverse reserve that encapsulates a variety of ecosystems, from lush groundwater forests to expansive grassy plains.

launch site. When you arrive, you will meet your pilot and witness your balloon being inflated and prepared for launch.

After a thorough safety briefing and demonstration of boarding and landing position you board your balloon and lift off! Rising as the sun rises your balloon floats in whatever direction the winds of the day are heading over this wonderful area. It is an adventure – even for us. Whereas we know where we have started, we genuinely do not know where we will land as we float in the direction of and speed of the wind.

Your pilot will use varying altitudes and layers of air to navigate the balloon over this amazing area. Each day is different, some of the flight may be low, offering a different perspective and at other times your balloon may climb to 1000’ or more. Breakfast is prepared in the bush and served under a convenient acacia tree. After breakfast, you are taken to the rendezvous point to meet with your driver guide and continue your day’s activities.

Immerse yourself in the wonders of Serengeti National Park with a second day of safaris. Explore different regions of the park, each offering unique landscapes and wildlife encounters. Frequently Asked Questions

The tour starts and ends in Kilimanjaro/Arusha. So you should arrive in either Kilimanjaro International Airport (Airport code is JRO) or at Arusha Airport (Airport code is ARK)

All foreign travellers will require a valid passport to enter Tanzania. The passport should have a validity for at least six months beyond the completion of travel. Generally. Tanzania Most travellers will require a visa for entry into Tanzania. Most countries can apply for an e-visa online at https://visa.immigration.go.tz/ . If you are not eligible please check with the nearest Embassy or Consulate as immigration laws are very strict and entry may be refused. Each passenger must be personally responsible for ensuring she/he possesses valid travel documentation. If you will like assistance with your visa, please write to [email protected]

Yes, private arrival and departure airport transfers are included in all JrnyOn tours between the airport and the tour hotel. These transfers will be shared with other members of your tour if it is a Social or JrnyMaestro trip.

There are no activities scheduled on Day 1 of the trip. So you can arrive anytime. Hotel check in time varies and generally will be around 14:00 pm.

We are flying from Seronera airport to Kilimanjaro or Arusha airport (to connect to your departure flight) on the last day of the morning. Our flight should arrive in Kilimanjaro or Arusha airport by 12 noon. So please make sure your international flights are booked late in the afternoon or evening, giving a minimum 4 - 5 hours time in between.

Please read through the itinerary in detail. Overall for the tour on a scale from 1 - 5, a fitness level of 3 would be ideal. You are on a safari and depending on where and when you see the wild animals, you will be on uncomfortable dirt roads for long durations.

Please refer to the daily activities in the itinerary, where the driving distance and duration for each day is given. However you are on a Safari and depending on where the animals are, you will be driving for hours on uncomfortable dirt roads. So be ready!

Yellow fever vaccination certificates are required for travellers aged 1 year or over arriving from countries with risk of yellow fever transmission and for travellers having transited for more than 12 hours through an airport of a country with risk of yellow fever transmission.

We advise you to check with your local health clinic or doctors a few weeks before your trip for proper recommendations.

The local guides and drivers are an essential part of your tour. It is always a good gesture to reward them with gratuities if you are appreciative of their services. Hotels and restaurants do not add a service charge onto bills. Tipping is at your discretion and at more upmarket hotels it is a general rule to add 10% of the bill for good service.

For travel to Tanzania during June to August, please carry a light jacket and sweaters. For the rest of the summer, casual adaptable clothing as per your comfort is good.

Temperatures are higher between December and March, and coolest between June and July. The long rains begin in March and end in May, while the short rains begin in October and continue to early December. Please check www.weather.com for up to date information.

The official currency of Tanzania is the Tanzanian shilling. While cards are accepted in the major hotels and lodges, carrying some cash in shilling is recommended, especially in rural areas. You can exchange money at airports, banks, and authorised exchange offices. It's wise to inform your bank of your travel plans to prevent card transaction issues, and you'll find ATMs readily available in some tourist hubs. Currency exchange is available at hotels, banks and international Airports.
